hi everyone I was just after a bit of information that possibly someone on here may know.
My little miss quail has injured her leg. She will not put weight on it at all and awkwardly hops on one leg to move (even though her food and water is right in front of her in her hospital box)
Although it appears to be completely lame most of the time, Ive seen her attempt to use it to scratch an itch before she realises it hurts like hell.
Ive picked her up to assess her leg and this is what I found out.
-There are no visual signs of injury, no clear break, bruising or swelling.
-Ive carefully moved all her joints (knee , hip, toes) and shes doesn't feel any pain there.
-Ive gently pressed on her toes to test for a response but barely reacted so I believe she still has feeling there but just didn't want to or too weak to pull away. I then moved my way up her leg feeling for anything abnormal and she reacted when I got about halfway between her 'ankle' and 'knee'. (I have been so gentle and made sure that I was barely touching her for this)
I'm suspecting a tiny little fracture, so what I truly wish to know is generally how long would a quail take to start showing signs of healing for this type of injury. And how long overall would it take her to fully heal.
I want to be able to track her healing progress so that I can give her the best care possible.
thank you
