I have 3 quail chicks, my first, hatch ever. a little over one week old . My brooder , is pretty enclosed, retains heat great, blowing hot air gently . not a heat lamp but a heater built in. Not sure if they’ve always been like this or just noticed today.. but there sleeping a little more than usual , usually this time of night there chowing down eating/ drinking and just being more active . But maybe there sleep schedule changes? And while mouths are closed , so I don’t think why are panting ? there sleeping , and I dunno seems like they’re breathing kind of quick. Or is that normal for quail chicks?
but like I said, my brooder retains heat really well.. I actually just turned it down to 80 just to see if they act any different in a bit . I had just turned it down to 90 a few days ago, the. 85 because they seemed fine .
