Yep, like I said, it's just been my experience but it simply did not work for me/them.

Maybe you just have some tenderfooted quail. Lol. I will keep an eye on mine hopefully I don't have the same problem hardware cloth isn't cheap.

Good luck with it. If I found a much heavier gauge wire in .5x.5" then I might try it again.

I put mine on 1/2 mesh wire at 3 weeks of age and they took right to it no problems at all. That was 5 weeks ago.

Good stuff. Check them in a few weeks and make sure. You won't be able to tell from looking without picking the quail up and looking at feet pads because they won't limp like a chicken will.
