Quail with a high fever and infection

Noticed that my quail hen was losing feathers on her back and panting a lot late last night, and this morning I took her to the vet. They said she had a high fever of 107.5 and if I had waited any longer she would've kicked the bucket. The vet put her on IV, gave her a cold bath, a few injections of antibiotics, diagnosed her with an infection and gave me oral antibiotics to give her every day for the next two weeks. They said to keep her outside in the shade and grass. Not sure if it's contagious, but I'm keeping her away from her mate and 2 chicks (that were living with her) until she's better just in case. Anybody else have any experience with this? I thought I'd get some extra advice.
