Hello all =)

I'm new to this site, as of today =)

I'm looking into keeping a few quail in a large reptile aquarium, and was wondering if anyone knew if using sand is a good idea to cover the bottom instead of wood shavings?

I'm thinking by covering the bottom of the tank with inexpensive play sand, the tank will be easier to clean using a hand vacuum....and maybe the quail dropping's would dry faster on sand?

Is this a good idea?

Thank you so much,
Snow

Sand is an excellent litter for birds of all kinds. I use sand in my chicken coops, runs, quail aviaries and even use it in my parrot cages. All the birds love it. It absorbs the moisture from the poop, it will control all smell and it is very easy to clean. It also has stones for the gizzards.

And, it is great on the feet pads. Soft and exfoliates the pads at the same time. I highly recommend it. :)
