Quails and Veggie Garden?

Gots a question...

I was thinking about making a pen with a caged run for my quail and was wondering if I could possibly create the run where my garden is? It is a vegetable garden so I am wondering if they would possibly peck at the food? This would work in keeping away the bugs and whatnot if they would be good there. I am aware of the possibility of droppings but I am mainly concerned with their eating and/or destroying my plants.

thanks to epicquailblog we hang some lettuce on a string for our quail to peck at. so they will probably poke some holes in your produce.

they might eat a bit of the garden for sure, but I think i there is lots of garden and not so many quail they won't do enough damage to worry much about it. It's mostly the caged birds that love to maul fresh greens because they don't have access to it all the time and it's a treat for them. They will be more likey to eat bugs and dig holes I think - but i've never tried it so I don't know for sure!

ha, no that was at bbgg to redo MY gardem beds when he gets home . We never do things in the right order!
