I placed a order for 8 buff silkie chicks my payment got there today but were out of chicks for the 10th shipping date. So they put my order for the 22nd shipping date I didnt like the fact of the chicks shippings on christmas week. So i told them to place it for the next shipping date she said that would be on the 29th and I would recive them on 31st.

Now I just checked ideals site and it has the date of the 29th as sold out. When will i get my confirmination e-mail or call? Will that not come till the chicks are shipped? Plz any info would be great I knew I was taking a huge chance on ordering this time of year. I just keep thinking of the time and watching the news and I keep calling a putting off the order till next time. Ugh Next time I wont let myself jump before thinking anymore..LOL

Best of luck. I sure hope you are close to their hatchery. Just 8 chicks at this time of year, especially banties, is going to be one very rough and cold trip. I ordered mine in the cold month of march but with the 8 silkies I also ordered 20 additional birds to make sure they were all going to arrive snuggled in a box.

I'd call and confirm you are on the order. They may say "sold out" because they have orders including yours booked for the eggs they expect to hatch in 2 weeks. There is never a garuentee how many will hatch so they may have more or less depending on nature and try to plan accordingly.

They don't give out emails or calls, so you just have to watch for the bill on your credit card. However, since you paid else wise, you'll just have to call and ask, and have the PO warned about their arrival and to call asap.

Since I am in WA, and it's cold this time of year (not as cold as the mid west) but still does freeze, I personally would put the order off till late spring if I was only getting 8 banty chicks, or add an additional 15-20 birds to the order for warmth. They may go ahead and fill the rest of your box with males though to help them get to you alive.

I may call and see what they will do for warmth for the chicks. I already talked to someone today who said i was booked for the 22nd shipping but then I called back and they changed it to the 29th order. I said so my shipment will go out on the 27th? She said yes and it will arrive on the 31st. I will call back a day or two before the 29th to confirm my order will be shipping on the 29th but they have my payment. I'd figure with me only ordering 8 chicks they would provide enough packing peanuts to keep them warm. I will call again to be sure what there means of keeping my chicks warm will be. I am in kentucky so I am no where near Texas.

That means they will go out on the 29th and get to you by the 31st. They only have enough yolk in them to last 72 hours. Hope new year and late x mas packages don't get in the way of the shipment. Good luck!

Okay, usually they will put extra chicks in the box for warmth. The billing process for Ideal is that if you use a credit card to order they will bill your card 3 days before they ship. All credit card orders have to clear before 10:00am on Wednesday which is their ship date. I have spoken to Rachel at Ideal several times regarding my order. She has been most helpful and able to answer my questions readily, especially in regards to billing and shipping.

Ideal will send you a confirmation order # and ship date in an email if you provided them with an email address. When I placed my order originally, I had put in the wrong date, as I found out that after I placed my order that the date was sold out. Turns out that they went ahead and booked my order for the original date I had selected instead of the second date.

Call them at 1-800-243-3257 ext 5400 and speak to Rachel.

i bet she reply's tomorrow

Are these chicks being shipped Priority or Express Mail? If Express mail shipping is offered, at this time of year thats what I would go for.
