question about ordering from mypetchicken.com

I got all our chickens from MPC. They are happy, healthy big girls now, and laying well! I only had one chick die a couple days after getting them, and they gave me the $ for that chick back. Out of 16 chickens, 2 were roos, but I rehomed them easily, and the chickens I gave to a friend were fine. I have 8 now, and we love them!

Those are some really nice looking birds. I got 10 Delaware pullets coming and I hope they'll be good layers and that they'll be healthy.

I guess I understand the reason for getting new chicks every so often. I thought chickens produced longer then just 2-3 years.

MPC were very good about reimbursement for the dead chick, no problems there.
Shipping overall was high, way more than price of chicks, but I don't know how it compares to others...

I went on to split my order with a hobby farm friend. The large fowl SS rooster has foot deformity,
the banty roo I kept (thought "he" was "she") and rehomed was very sweet to people and will be used to produce chicks for 4-H
children. He is shown in my avatar.
The banty leghorn is so sweet, my BA and RIR are healthy and all 3 lay well.
Although hatchery quality, I think they are very pretty

Thats what I keep hearing, the shipping is higher than the price of the chicks. Someone mentioned going to Ideal and I might try them next time because I really didn't like paying more to ship the chicks then to buy but I guess thats what you get for the price of convience.
Where am I able to get show quality chicks? My husband wants to get our daughter involved with the 4-H when shes old enough and we wanted to start her out with our chickens and have a good line going for our own little family.

Ciao,
My first experience with mypetchicken.com was two years ago. I ordered 8 day old chicks in September 2013 and a week later I ordered 4 day old chicks. I was very happy with my dealings with mypetchicken.com.
Subsequently, I ordered six fertile hatching eggs to place under my broody hen; none of those eggs hatched. I contacted mypetchicken.com and they apologized and issued me a $10.00 credit towards a future order.
Last month I ordered three Bielefelder hatching eggs(not cheap) and three Buff Orpington hatching eggs from my pet chicken.com and redeemed my $10.00 credit. Mypetchicken.com teamed up with a new supplier and my eggs were shipped. Unfortunately, the shipping box was not marked "hold for pick up" and the eggs were placed on the postal carriers truck for delivery. I went to the post office after I had looked up the tracking information and was informed that the box was on the truck for delivery (my house is last on my postal carriers route). I ended up driving the route and found my postal carrier and she gave me the hatching eggs.
I advised mypetchicken.com of the above and informed them that part of the box was damaged but it looked like all the eggs were intact. The eggs were placed in a Brinsea mini advance with eggs turner. I followed all the instructions to a T and after three weeks, two eggs hatched.
I have read many threads online and have found that this is an unacceptable hatching rate. I contacted mypetchicken.com and they apologized and felt that the hatching rate was acceptable and I should look at the troubleshooting guidelines. I canceled the eggs after one and two weeks. Three looked viable and three did not.
I have two Bielefelder chicks and four unhatched eggs.
I have written once again to mypetchicken.com and I am waiting for a response.
