Question for kskingbee

I didn't say Purple that was Dany. The green spiral meant she was hatched in 2014, the other leg band would tell me the pen. She is a bit lighter on the back and with those two white tipped feathers on the back I think she is a single factor White Eye. That means that if she is bred to another bird with WE they would produce WE offspring.

No guarantee without knowing for sure which pen she is from, but my suspicion is that she is also split to Black Shoulder. You will know when you see the babies. If you hatch some chicks that start out creamy white and develop dark wings at about two weeks you will know for sure that her daddy is this bird, Elvis.

If so you will get some birds that look like him and some hens that look like this girl here.

Thanks for all your help. Now I am even more excited to see what I can hatch. By the way Elvis is a beautiful bird

I don't know if you would remember me I'm sure you meet lots of people. But I'm betting you remember the weekend that we met you had taken a truckload of guineas to the Yoder Auction there was some trouble with part of them getting loose on the way there and then at the auction they sold really cheap I hope you can laugh about it now

Yeah, I was chuckling while I was reading that! What a trip that was, leaving a trail of guineas behind us.

I have a question I hope you can help me with, I remember you giving me advice before Im now trying to follow and Im limited to what I can buy for various dewormers sold at Tractor Supply , Im looking for a product to treat for Gape worms and then for whatever else preventative I need to treat for prior to the laying season and prior to going back outside free range where Ive seen my male eat a few worms or night crawlers which are a lot larger, if it moves hes on it, lightning speed. Sometimes its scary what he finds, but anyways, I found this product and not sure if I can put it in their water bucket to drink or not. I think its a liquid or assuming it is . I have 5 birds to treat without touching them. They can touch you but thats it or they get scared and panic up. So dosing their water is the only way I can make sure they all get treated equally . If I remember you told me also you give your birds medicated feed was that all the time? or do you stop prior to laying season? or did you mean just the chicks ? and was wondering what brand or where I could also get some online if you dont recommend I use Tractor Supply , Im sure you have a much better source considering your quality birds and the amount of knowledge on them is truly in depth and a great help to others.

Merck Safe-guard Goat Dewormer, 125 mL

The safeguard is a great product but should never be diluted in water for two reasons, one it does not mix and settles to the bottom of the dish, second it is diluting it and not enough of the medication will reach the bird and end up being ineffective.

If you want to dose in water, you are limiting your choices to just Valbazen. The dosage is 1/2 ml per bird per day, one day will get round and cecal worms, for capillary and gapes it takes five days. For either treatment, you will have to repeat in ten days.

The medicated water must be the only water the birds get until it is gone for the day then you can offer more fresh water. I would get an idea how much they will drink in one day then put the 1/2 ml per bird in that water.

If you have a fecal exam done by a vet you would know if you need to treat for one day or five days, or maybe not at all.

Another alternative is to put the Safeguard in a favorite food like scrambled eggs. 2 ml per peahen and three ml per cock. Make up about six scrambled eggs and put the required amount of Safeguard in after it cools down, and watch them gobble it up.

Ok, Ive never fed them eggs, I will try the scrambled eggs just not sure if all the females will all get enough or one or two might get too much, is it possible to over dose and make them ill, should I re med in 5 days to be sure. I will get some of the formula listed above and use your dosages, the male should be easy his food is separate.
