Question for sellers-do you replace eggs for bad hatches-when and why?

I will replace eggs if anything more than the extras are broken, or if somebody is polite and has none hatch. If they are rude and accusatory straight out of the box, they can forget it!

I've had great hatches and terrible hatches. If I have a 0 hatch I will let the seller know, just an FYI, and not because I want free replacements.

That being said, I have a batch of eggs in my incubator that were packaged poorly. I have 0% development, and the seller now has 3 negative feedback comments from people who bought the same eggs this month and had none develop. I contacted them after day 8 asking if it was possible that they had a fertility issue with that pen, and they told me to candle them again in 10 days because they might be hard to see

I think by now I can tell the difference between a clear egg and one that is developing.

No complaints from me. You have been wonderful!!!

When all 6 favs were alive and kicking at day 18 I was so happy. When none hatched you were there to comfort me.

My 4 little ameraucanas are the biggest now of all 12 chicks... I'm thinking I have 3 roos! We'll see. I'm hoping if there is a blue wheaten, I'll be keeping 1 roo... and pray he's not too loud!!

The 2 marans are so cute and I think I have a pair.

All I can say is thank you for being so wonderful.

This is the way I picutre BYC for all of us.. as a fun place where we share our love of chickens. I certainly am not trying to quit my day job on egg money and I would hope that no one is spending their grocery money on my eggs. So although risky we are not spending our earnings on some of the more vulgar vices, eh? And when we let it become ugly either as an irresponsible seller or a bad tempered buyer we take the fun out of it.

I am glad to know what others do. I think it will help me in the future. So many of you go above and beyond I am sure I can eek out a little more patience.

My friend had a red one....her name was Maggie, but she lost her to cancer about a year ago. She was only 4 years old.

They are wonderfully rotten.

Penny went missing a couple of weeks ago with Ruger our German Shorthair, and it just about ripped my heart out. I could hear the coyotes outside but searching for a dog in the dark here is impossible. Luckily my husband found them the following evening, and she was so happy to see (well smell!) him she practically climbed him. I was in tears too

Ladybird used to press her nose against me and sigh when i'd been gone, as if to say 'it's so good to smell you'!

I have never asked for replacements..I (as we all do) know the risks involved in shipped eggs..I sell a few eggs on ebay and so far have not had any "reported" broken..I bubble wrap each egg and bubble wrap line the box...
I advise folks to read up on shipped eggs if they have no exp with them before they buy..
Ive seen sellers get slammed on feedback because the buyer got bad hatches even though the eggs were in good shape when the arrived..I would never,ever do that

I would offer replacements for the cost of shipping if the PO really screwed up. That would make me feel better about the deal..Id like to show the buyer that Im trying for them to have a positive exp' in buying from us..
