question prolapsed vent or anus blood everywhere

I don't really know. I know that this time it went back in pretty quick overnight, although I did treat it that night . The preparation H is the biggie...keep in mind, it took 2 weeks for me to mend her the first time...treatments three times a day. but, once the scab came off, it went in. It was so bad at first that the egg was stuck outside the body in the sack...yuck. I hope you have good luck. It has been fine for two days and now today there is poop hanging out again...Also, the prep-H will keep them from pecking at it...they hate the smell.

OK so just an update. After that rough patch where it came back out one night and she kept herself away from folks for a couple of days....she is right back in the mix, it had gone back in by the next morning and all is well....

Sooooooooo.....Sad update about our Beauty. She reprolapsed for one day, which I think I already posted, and then she did fine for over a month and a half. I thought we were good...then, an egg with a bit of blood on the shell. Wasn't sure if it was her or not, but a week later while on vacation, the pet sitters found her dead on the floor with a prolapse again. So sad. She was a good bird and is missed. I have to say that it was a long hard road and, if this is the normal outcome, I don't know if I would go through it again... Although, as far as I know, she didn't suffer once she was "fixed the first time" and the one that put her down seemed to happen overnight. Good luck to all those who are giving it a try and please post happy outcomes so people can get an idea whether they want to go through it or not. It would have been worth it for both bird and owner if she had made it longterm. RIP Beauty

I'm sorry you lost your girl, Beauty. I guess there are just some things that we can't fix for them, or help them fix. I have a beautiful Welsummer, Twiggy, who is, I believe, an internal layer. We have not had an egg from her in a month, or so, and sometimes she looks better, and sometimes worse. We have done the bath, Tums, everything except antibiotics. I think that it's just a waiting game with her, too. It's never easy, sorry for your loss.

So sad about Beauty... As to the necromancer, a one month old chick should not have egg prolapse. Whatever vent issue you have will be different. Potentially you are seeing blood from coccidiosis? But it would perhaps be best to start a new thread for your issue, as it is not related to this at all.
