Questions about aging? In jest.

I am hearing a lot of strep throat going round in this neck of the woods too. At least 3 of my kids' families have had it.
For those of you not taking Vitamin D supplements for immunity improvement, I asked my old-guy endocrinologist what the latest medical recommendations were. He claims the official recommendation of the society of endocrinologists ( or whatever the official name is) is 2,000- 5,000 units a day. ( RDA in vitamins is 400).
At the risk of being accused of practicing medicine without a license, I can say that DH and I have been noticeably healthier since adding the Vit D regimen to the pill collection.
it's either that or run around nekkid for more sunlight on our skin.

I think I know someone who'd have no problem with this approach.

To Em and Lily. I had strep once... and I had it in conjunction with a stomach flue and a cold, so I was coughing, hurling, and had a flipping sore throat. Oh, and I was on summer vacation in New England too.

Back to the matter at hand for a second- I tried to help me dad carry a air hockey table, and he said that I could have lifted it in my "glory days" but couldn't now. Am I so old and infirm that I have glory days?!?

I don't think I ever had "glory days." Ugh.

My son had strep several times when he was a little guy. For some reason, tossing his cookies was often the first symptom I became aware of - he never said anything about his throat hurting. He'd often have a fever of something like 103. I'd take him to the Pediatrician, he'd go, "say ahhhh. Yep, strep throat." That quick.

Em, are you trying to start a trend? I'll just say this about that. I heard of a case of a woman who for some reason was topless at a beach where that sort of thing wasn't done. She was arrested and charged with indecent exposure. The judge threw the case out. He ruled that, due to the woman's age (she was 56) it was "no longer a matter of public interest." Ouch!

OK, it's once again a rainy, damp, chilly day here in the Garden State.

Why: does my right shoulder hurt?
Why is my bunion going berserk?
Why does my back ache?
Why do both hands hurt?
Why is my right hip aching like a tooth ache?

And the answer is it's a rainy, damp , chilly day. You're old - look in the mirror.

You did unusual physical work yesterday and now you must pay the price.

I don't mind the grunts and groans and rice crispy knees - I've been doing many of those since I was in my teens. What I hate are the involuntary yelps because of the bits that I have "done something to" that just won't get over it. Whatever happened to my ability to bounce back, or even bounce? It's raining here, too, so I'm finding this lady just a bit depressing (why are my links always longer than a rainy week?)
