A few weeks ago my friend texted me to ask if I wanted an orphaned baby duck. I keep chickens but don't have a pond so I never planned on getting any ducks. But being an animal lover I couldn't say no. So she brought this tinny little fluff ball over an told me she found it wandering in the park trying to follow a mallard family but mama duck kept attacking it so she scooped it up. It's definitely not a mallard and looks a lot like a khaki Campbell to me but I'm no expert. Anyway he was pretty sick looking so I planned to keep him till he was healthy and find him a home with someone who had a pond and other ducks. Then I realized he was blind. Seeing as he will need special care and because I am rather fond of him he is going to stay with me. I've never kept ducks so I just need some advise as to how to set up a pen. I was wondering which would be better a baby pool that I could dump and hose out or a fish pond with a real good filtration system? He gets along fine with my chicks but I think he needs a duck friend what's a good laid back breed for me to get that hopefully won't pick at him? Also how big should his pen be?
