2 plus hours (I think)... no heat in the coop

Chickens are tough, as long as no drafts I bet they are fine! My water trough deicer has blown the fuse in my barn two days running and my poor chooks didn’t have their IR heaters - it hoovered around -1C (30F) inside the barn, they gave me an earful both days when I got home from work, but I found a bribe of scratch grain and mealworms shut them up.

This morning I moved the de-icer to a different outlet circuit after it tripped the fuse again last night. Nope I didn’t not trudge to the barn in that snow squall last night - I figured the horses would keep it around the freezing point in the barn overnight. Everyone was fine this morning, eggcept me - the snow was up to my knees trudging to the barn. Longest 400’ ever.

Did I mention how much I detest snow? Esp in my boots

Same temp here. Wind cuts right to the bone!

We call that a lazy wind.

-9C (15F) and hey look it’s stopped snowing! Oh, no, wait, started again….


Still under a snowfall warning, the township where I live is under a weather advisory warning people to stay home, stay off the roads, to give the crews time to clear snow and get things safe. We had a load of snow.

Still calling for 20 to 30cm more of the evil white stuff.

Oh hey look! The suns out now at home woohoo! Wonder how long it will last…

Anywhoo can’t change the weather, but I can move to where there’s no snow! Vancouver island is looking good.

I also spent a half hour cleaning the bum of my Dominique that molted early. What a mess. literally a golf ball sized lump of hard poo.

You could keep all of him. Some people eat rattlesnakes. You can buy rattlesnake meat in the local markets. I just stay far away from them!
