Questions for Setter4 - Cremation - You MUST be respectful!!!

Here you have to have to make anyplace you bury a body "dedicated cemetery property" so it can never be used as anything else.
They take a much different view of burial in England than we do. They don't do anywhere near the amount of viewing and embalming, etc. that we do.

I really like the idea of being buried and then planted on. Sounds odd the way I put it, but I like it, haha. I would really like to be cremated, tossed in a hole and have a fruit tree planted on me. My mom told us do whatever is cheapest, and I agree with her. My body is just my body, Im not going to use it where Im going! She told us to cremate her and flush her down the toilet if that's cheap enough, lol. Very interesting thread though. I'll come back with questions if any arise.

Ahh look, Im back. My grandma watched my grandpa get cremated, and she told us the man informed her that sometimes the body will move or make noises when the cremation is happening. Is this true? If you would rather not answer this, that is totally understandable. How the heck would they know anyways?!

I have a cemetery on my property. It is very old. It is pre 1865 for some of the oldest graves. There are 9 burials there that I can identify with stones or 'sinks'.

My husband says if we haven't decided to sell and move away in the end he would like to be buried there.

It is possible that a body could move during cremation as tissue contracts. I have never herad on any type of noise.
There used to be ( I hope they stopped making them) crematories with viewing windows. I think thewy may still have them at mortuary schools.

Can I tell a story.... Here we go...

My Hubby works in the rental department of a Gated Community. They received a package addressed to the rental department, to be opened when one of the rental property owners came back into town. Well, it sat unopened and unclaimed for months. Finally, the DAY BEFORE they were going to open it and see what was inside, someone called. It was the ashes of someone's mother! It had been sent through the mail, no notice, no nothing! The daughter was just checking to see if it was there!

NO LIE!!

We always send them "return receipt requested" but it doesn't really say "HUMAN REMAINS" or anything in big letters. We do put a sticker on it with the name, cremation #, name of funeral home, etc. but it's not great big. With all the wierdo's in the world you don't really want to draw attention to what it is.

I lost both of my parents at the same time. They were cremated. My sister and I wanted them mixed together as soon as they possibly could be. They were always together, they died within 2 hours of each other so we saw it very fitting. The crematorium said it was against their policy to do that. Our local funeral director did it for us as soon as she recieved them. She was sweet enought to call me and let me know they were back together. Do you mix remains if asked or have you ever been asked?

My sister and I had some of the remains placed inside of a sealed heart shaped pendant. No one knows, and they are always with me.
