I have a rooster (cockerel) with a case of bumble ankle? There isn't a black dot and it keeps getting more swollen. We've tried the epson salt soaks, keeping it clean and wrapped. He has a semi broken "toe nail" so we're thinking that's where the infection entered. We think he kicked a hawk. Not certain though. Anyway, we wanted to give antibiotics a try, considering the location of it. I have 500mg powder capsule pills of amoxicillin. I'm searching the proper doses everywhere. He's a Rhode Island Red, about 9 months old and 5 lbs. There is math everywhere, all over the place. Talking about grams per 100 Liters of water in a confusing layed out way? One thing I found seems to suggest 250mg twice a day. I just don't want to kill him by giving him too much. Can i divide this powder in half mixed with a little peanut butter and give it to him twice a day? Anyone specifically use amoxicillin before?
