questions on making a brooder inside the coop

Let the babies out today. No issues. They basically stayed in the coop. I had the gate up till close to bedtime but they could get out both sides but bigs couldn't get in. I also took down the HWC on the side so they can come and go as they want. Close to bedtime I took the gate down and closed their door ( still need to make a chick size door) a group just came back out the other way. A few ventured to the chicken door and Sat at the top of the ramp but none have gone out yet. The big ones came in here and there. Then at bedtime they came in and walked right past the littles. One of the littles even jumped up on the roost for a bit. I think it did get down and go in the brooder but wow I am happy with how this went!!!!

Oh there is a mama hen still in the coop with her 3 day old babies. She pecked the littles a few times but not hard and not every time they were near the babies.

does my set up look ok for hidey spots?
Probably will work as is. If you need more, just grab anything available, like clean, empty plant pots, or wood stumps, or even things like a wheelbarrow, and stick them in random spots in the run.

I love all your big ol fluffy butts❤

I do too! I recently got a favaucana and she is fluffy from head to toe, lol, I just love it!
OMG I would LOVE a favaucana! Can I see a picture of her? I haven't seen any around here. thought about getting hatching eggs but just too much $ to not have many hatch so didn't. And once I get my splash Cochins (think have to try to hatch some more) then my coop is full so have to wait a while before I can get some more. LOL

I'll get some current pics today, she is a goofy thing but pretty as all get out! Ya I hear ya, not sure why these "designer" breeds are so pricey, but hey🤷

mama brought out the 2 little babies yesterday and they used some of the stuff I think more just to play around since they didn't need to hide from anyone. hahaa.

But the 4 week old babies started to barely venture out yesterday. They went down the ramp a bit and would jump on the play yard from the ramp. think maybe 1 made it the whole way down the ramp but didn't stay for long. Sure over the next few days they will start to venture out more and more.
