I wouldn't worry about getting that fly spray I mentioned now unless you have a lot of flies...but yes I would just wipe some on her...but not close to the wound, and spray some around the area she is housed for now.

The bottle says to spray 3-4 times so I figure if I aim to do it 2 - 4x will be good. It still looks about the same as the picture I posted from yesterday. no redness or swelling on the skin around it. I don't like that there are any feathers stuck in it, but each time i've sprayed I've been able to loosen tiny bits here, and there. I tried to lightly wipe it (the spots that look like stuck debris) with clean gauze this morning. She deff does Not like that. She is patient with letting me spray it so I am going to use that as my primary keep it clean method.I'd pick up the V spray and spray the wound twice a day.
It should heal just fine.
You are having such a great chicken momma experience huh?
Craigslist is a good place to start with rehoming roosters...if you can eat them.
The V spray is awesome! Using a syringe to irrigate under the skin flap worked but did not Push out debris the same way. I can spritz chunks off the scabby area without touch it! My hen appreciates this too I think. I wouldn't say I have a fly issue, but maybe like you say ebbing around. Fermented feed is interesting to me. Maybe when I get their lives, and my yard back together I can look into it.You are doing great!
The V spray works great too the powerful spray is good huh!?
I'm not going to read back right now because I am in a hurry but I wanted to mention (if I haven't already) I have zero flies issues.
It was brought to my attention the other day that the Deep Litter Method may be one of the reasons I don't have flies around my coop.
I didn't always use the DLM and I can remember flies ebbing around before I sed the DLM.
But I also ferment their feed...and people claim that helps keep flies down too, but although I didn't have a lot of flies before the DLM I still had a few and I have always used the FF.
So..my point is you may want to consider using the DLM in your run IF you have a fly problem.
it's the only reason i'm leaving it uncovered. it's so ugly to look at, but does cover the whole surface, and isn't cracking at all.Scabbing IS GOOD!
Not alot, but some ebbing as you mentioned has been our normal. I will lightly wipe her with the spinosad, and avoid the wound. Everyone's poop butts are improving so that will help with the flys i'm sure. She is roosting at night with her boy so I will do the inside of the coop. I get up early enough to just remove her, and put her in her pen before anyone starts getting off the roosts.I wouldn't worry about getting that fly spray I mentioned now unless you have a lot of flies...but yes I would just wipe some on her...but not close to the wound, and spray some around the area she is housed for now.
Something easy to cure!? Maybe my chicken summer luck is turning around!! Popcorn is laying down in her crate now. We put her in a little sick pen yesterday to limit her walking. She is one of my original crew! So i'm feeling a little relief to know that this is something I can do!! If you have instructions I'm here to follow them!! I didn't soak her last night. I got home too late, and just crashed. Tonight i'm ready though! She starts panting when I think she is in pain/stressed. Is there anything I can do to help her with this? There are horrible pictures online of what the bumblefoot can turn into so obviously I don't want that!! What is your prefered "digging" tool to get the hard puss out? Tweezers? "take the scab off you gotta dig a little or squeeze the hard puss out."..... Actually sounds not so bad! I was trying to not squeeze to hard on the first soak. I hoped it was softening, and loosening to make it easier maybe after this soak?Oh girl bumble foot is easy to cure.
After you take the scab off you gotta dig a little or squeeze the hard puss out.
You can do it!
Let me go find "god instructions " for you.

Thank you!Congrats on all the babies!
To me easy = digging the pus out and letting it heal.Something easy to cure!? Maybe my chicken summer luck is turning around!! Popcorn is laying down in her crate now. Maybe you could have guessed, but I don't want "chicken foot surgery" to be my first option, and seems to be everyone's go to when you start searching what to do. So I have a fresh tube of neosporin, and my V. Her foot was nice and wrapped still before bed so i'm just leaving it like that until I'm ready to soak her feet again. Also what is your best foot soaking method? I've been bringing her in the house, and standing her in a shallow bucket. The spot on her toe barely has a scab, and is the most swollen. The two others are more of a flat round scab.
Thank you!![]()
