Questions while on the quest for perfect FLASHLIGHT!

I had been using a flashlight that I modified with some black leather to direct the light in a more focused beam. But I recently purchased a candeling flashlight from First State Vet supply and really like it, it plugs in so now I dont have to think about batteries, or my ds leaving it on.

Yesterday I went and bought 3 of the ones that are small with 9-that's right 9-led lightbulbs in it-It could go through my body and melt through a candle it's awesome---I knew it the minute I saw it and turned it on what a perfect flashlight it was so I bought all three left-If I can getmore I will and post them for sale for everyone--you'll love them and they are under 10 bucks couldnt cost more than 3 bucks to send for shipping!!!

A few options.

A car headlight or KC light. On or off the car.

A hunters spotlight.

A fireman's "smoke cutter" helmet light.

I've heard good results from people using a lazier pointer. Don't have one to test but I've seen what one does when shined in to a bowl of water. It should work extremely well.

I would stay away from LED flashlights. The do stay cool but there on the market because of there ability to extend battery life. The cant compete with regular lights when it comes to brightness. I have 2 high end LED lights that I love but I go back to a cheep bulb light when light output counts.

I am somewhat of a flashlight freak, I probably have close to 100 in various sizes. LED's are my favorite and like has been said here most of them aren't real bright or won't shine out very far. But I have found one that I feel is VERY GOOD. It is made by Leatherman and is called the "Monarch 500". I just tested it to see and yes it will candle hens fruit. When I need to go check something out at night I now grab this little flashlight instead of one of my cordless spotlights. With this light I can light up the stop sign at the end of my road which is 1/2 mile. The light runs on 3 AAA's and comes with a belt pouch. I got mine at Costco for like $30.
