I have a white skinned breed and I have a yellow skinned chick that they produced. Both parents have white skin.

Do both parents need to be heterozygous for white skin to produce this or just one? Any insight into this would be helpful!

Oh well that is interesting. Let me check the net a bit. What breed do you have and how old is the chick ? In some white leg breeds the chicks are hatched with yellow legs that turn white as they mature.
Just the legs are yellow or the whole bird is yellow skin ?? That makes a difference.

I have Wheaten Ameraucanas. I know the chicks hatch out with yellow legs and darken. I was fully aware the breeder was having these same issues popping up with his birds. This chick is 2 weeks old and far to yellow. Even some of the EEs I hatched aren’t THIS yellow. I’ve seen the yellow skin in these Ams before but I just can’t remember if that means one or both of the parents are heterozygous for white skin vs homozygous, what they should be.
