cochins and orpingtons are known for being particularly calm and mellow. do you mean indoor coop when you say "pin" or do you mean and outdoor enclosure? Do you have a coop? If mean coop, 4'x8', that's enough room for about 8 chickens if they get to be outside also. If they are going to be in all the time, then it's enough room for about 3 birds.

I like Australorps and Orpingtons, I just want more color. . . may be a lavender orpington but it sounds like those are far and few between.

Australorps!!1 they have a green sheen on them and they're the toughest little gals I know. not too noisy but definately opinionated when they lose track of one another

Ameraucaner and EE come in tons of pretty colors and are usually quiet and mellow.
Cochins are not only quiet and mellow, come in interesting colors like "Silver Laced" or "Partridge" for example. Another point of Cochins would be there funny basketball shape.....but all personal preference.

My silkies have been the quietist, bantam cochins are good but the hens can sometimes get a little mouthy. Both are very mellow. My personal Seramas are hyper.
