I am excited but quite nervus about the swap. Do I understand that as long as my blocks are 12X12 and have poultry involved I am good to go??? Just so anxious to get started.

Yay! I'll sign you up.

Yes, 12 x 12 blocks.

ALL - Did you notice I put down 12 x 12 and not 12.5 x 12.5 for this one?? The reason is the difficulty involved with the 12.5's, few patterns, and so most have to be customised. In the end, it often works out to 12 x 12 anyway. So, I wonder if anyone cares if we stick with just 12 x 12????

You should say " 12 inch finished size". This means that the blocks measure 12 1/2 until they are sewn together then they measure 12
Patterns usually are quoted for finished size

Now I am confused...no worries ladies it happens often. Are we doing 12.5 x 12.5 blocks for a finished size of 12 x12 like we did in the Winter Swap? I really hope I didn't screw up that one.

1. Blocks size prefinished 12.5 x 12.5, finished 12x12
2. Fall colored fabrics
3. At least one chicken patterned piece per block
4. Free choice on pattern
5. Number of blocks? 12-15
6. 100% cotton prewashed fabric

please clarify for me any thing I have wrong. thanks

ETA: wouldn't the 12x12 cause more problems with shashing if the others were 12.5x12.5?

I just did a quick Internet search of 12 X 12 blocks and there are TONS available. But they all appear to be 12 X 12 finished size. So, I think you have to say 12 1/2 X 12 1/2 but 12 X 12 FINISHED. Hope that makes sense. :)

When this swap is being done at least partly to go with the 1st swap for a bigger quilt, I do not get the size change... as if a participant did do the first swap, either adding borders to new blocks to make them the same size as the first with an all-around 1/2 border, or cutting down the first blocks will/can alter the symmetry of them. Here is a link to a free site that has been around forever. You can search by picture or block size and when clicking on the just 12'' (finished size when putting the individual blocks together) the possibilities are rather overwhelming...and this is just one site.

Okay I have picked a pattern, not a difficult one. I have ordered fall fabric (any excuse to order fabric is a plus to me). So if I have calculated my fabric correctly I am ready to start!
