R.I.P ~ Anekin Bunny~Updated(Scratchy also)

I went out this morning and Scratchy was not in her usual spot, so I looked for her at the rabbit warren and there she was~ Lifeless.
So I phoned a ranger friend who told me that the Calisi virus has reappeared with the drought breaking.
The virus has been dormant for 3 years with the drought.
Now that the rains have started again, the virus is very active with flies and mosquitos carrying the virus into town.
Now I didnt realise that the virus was spread so easily otherwise I would have vaccinated them.
So Now ive lost dear little scratchy too.
I have Snowy inside still until i can get her to the vet, they wanted to charge me $65 for sunday consult and $9 for the vaccine.
My bush vet has quoted me only $15 for vaccine but she's not there till tommorrow, so hopefully snowy will be fine until then.
On a "sort of" better note, the calisi virus kills rapidly without horrible side effects.
Oh well another crappy day!

Oh boy, this is nerve shattering, Im hoping that the new boy hasnt caught it. He is so sweet.
I went outside tonite to lock up the pens and had my usual pieces of bread in my hands for the bunnies , nightly ritual!
I give the bunnies 2 pieces of bread and the possums get 2.
I totally forgot that I didnt need the bunny breads.
Then it sank in again.
So I thought stuff it, im going to put the bread there anyway for their souls.
I sat outside in my chair looking down the yard to where they usually say under a tree together.
Those bunnies have left pawprints on my heart.

Dang that virus stuff...I hope your new bunny is ok, and gives you many years of bunny lovin!

Thankyou Deb, and thankyou to everybody for your kind thoughts, they do help when we feel down.
Ive just disinfected the floors and have no shoes policy in the house until he is in the clear.
He has a great appetite tonite.
I just went to hang some washing outside in the dark (as we do) and the bread pieces were still there untouched.
This is really painful, Snowy doesnt trust me yet, im hoping he will relax real soon.
Thanks again.
