Kute Kitten is going to show her mini rex doe under six months at the fair Labor Day weekend. We got the tag in the mail and it lists the Department, Class, and Lot numbers correct but, then when they write it out the Class is listed as Lops-English.

Does the mini rex fall under this class or do I need to call the fair office?

I just looked in our fair books...2 of which the girls took rabbits to and the 3rd book for the Dunn County Fair... Each one has the lops (English and French) in there own section/class. The Mini Rex were in another section/class. So I would call and see if they messed it up some where along the lines. Like I said it looks to me (from looking at 3 fair books) the Lops and Mini Rex are in the same department...BUT DIFFERENT CLASSES/SECTIONS OF THAT DEPARTMENT..
Good luck...
Hope she does good at the fair.

I am not sure how they judge your show, if they are using arba standards, just beware that she is a dq (charlie, not enough color on her). If it is a 'pet' show she will do fine.
Not being pickey, just don't want your daughter upset if it happens, been there done that!

It turns out they had a problem with all the rabbit tags. All I had to do was say the word rabbit and she new the problem. We just had to pick up a new tag and everything is set to go.

dutchhollow-I'm not sure how they judge here either-this is our first time but, the breeder had wanted to keep her as she has the markings wanted for mini rex. The son goofed when he let Kute Kitten pick her out. I guess time will tell. We emphathize it's for fun and if you win a placement then that is extra. She knows that being her first show that she may not do well as I'm sure there are things we will end up learning that we should have done.

She is a pretty rabbit, but dutchhollow is right, she is a charlie, which emans not enough color. If its a fun/pet show, then she will do fine. If they judge based of the arba standards, then she wont do too good.

Good luck, she is a very pretty rabbit

If you can have your daughter sign up for 'showmanship'. I put Abby in it-Emma is to young. As far as I know they ask different questions about your rabbit and the breed of rabbit. Kinda testing your knowledge of the rabbit and breed. Abby isn't to excited for the 'showmanship' part, but I told her if she is going to show animals she is going to do that part too..It kinda works as a plus also because if you decide to sell the animal at the auction part of the fair you have to do the showmanship for that department/animal. Or at least that's what it's like around here...
The girls didnt' sell there rabbits or chickens. But next year we are going to put pigs and sheep in the fair. And then they will do the showmanship for them animals and beable to put them in the auction.
This was our first year in 4-H and showing of animals and arts and crafts. The girls did very well...Specially for being there first year. We didnt' get alot of help from other members of the 4-H club, but we learned ALOT on our own. So the second fair the girls showed at we were a little better prepared...
Best of luck to your daughter...Hope she enjoys showing her rabbit...

She is showing in the open class part of the show. I'm not sure if there is showmanship for open class. Signup is done for the fair but, I will keep that in mind next year. She isn't selling her bunny so that's not a problem. I did find her some info on the history of the mini rex online and told her to read it and learn the info in there as she may need it for the fair. That shouldn't be to hard for her, the kid just absorbs stuff!

We did check into 4H here and it's just not feasible. The demands on ones time they make isn't possible. The clubs here are ones that are 1 or 1 1/2 parents working and the times and demands don't work for us. Maybe when she is older and I can let her walk from school to some of the meetings or my folks. So for now it's open class.

Mini Rex can also be put into the Fur class,
any rabbit can show in Fur as long as they show in Open or Youth.
where as this little mini doesnt have enough color thats where I would show her.

Fur class is generally cheaper than Open show cost wise and will help put the rabbit into a class it can compete in
