Raccoon attack! Bad wing injury need advice

You can use Telfa nonstick wound pads from Walmart or Walgreens or similar drug store. The brand name tends to work better than the generic. You can dress the pad w ointment, etc., won't stick to the wound, can be loosely wrapped to allow some air and still keep the wound moist. In veterinary treatments for other species silvidine cream works well for moist tissue but dressed to prevent infection and promote healing at the same time. I've not used it on chickens so someone here may have experience if it's an issue for chickens or not, but every other species I used it on did very well.
Thanks, might give that a try.

Silvadene is great stuff. Did a lot of wound care during my nursing career. And right on about keeping the wound moist to promote healing. There is a lot of open flesh there and chickens are not known to be particularly tidy animals....I know mine aren't. I think a light dressing over the wound would be a good thing. I worry about the band you have against the open wound. That has to be uncomfortable. She seems like a model patient, tho.

Yes she's been pretty cooperative, especially compared to my experience with ducks. We might adjust how we put the band.

i had a raccoon eat my 4 week old silkie and a white crested polish, they were the cutest little things, i thought the wire door was safe but he pulled them both through...it was a very sad day....that door now has double wire on it....
They're vicious little things are smart too. Sorry for your girls. Hoping I can get mine better.

She has been brought in to the vet and he agrees it needs to be amputated. It will be done today. For anyone else looking for advice on this, as I couldn't find anything myself, the estimate was about 500$, less than I thought. It was also less than it was for my ducks injuries. I will update more when she comes home.
