This morning at 4:23 I heard screaming in my backyard it took me a minute to realize it was my chicken. I rushed outside and saw a raccoon attacking my her . Not thinking I quickly to her out of the coop (I only have 1 chicken) and hugged her tight. Once the raccoon saw me it ran away. I took my chicken inside and used peroxide to clean her wounds. It appeared that the raccoon tried to take her head off because she only had 3 shalow holes in her head. I let her sleep inside in a separate room. This morning I tried to give her food and water but she wont eat or drink she has 1 eye closed that wont open and she keeps wanting to sleep. I'm so confused on what to do and I'm very worried.

I used to have another chicken but it got attacked in the night too. I didn't hear anything we think a raccoon might of attacked her too.

I need some advice, please help!

If you see puncture wounds, bacteria likely was injected into the tissues and a bacterial infection has started. The best thing to do is to get some injectible penicillin from the feed store and start her on it. Untreated infection can kill a chicken in as little as 24 hours.

Obviously, you need to do some work on the coop to make it predator secure, or else this will continue to happen until you lose this hen, too.
