raccoons!

I recently build a hen house and am raising a few hens. I live on the marsh and when the sun goes down, the raccoons come out! there is absolutely no doubt that they will try to get into the coop, but we have built it in a very secure fashion.

This is what I would like to know:
I want to be able to keep my chicken feed outside, near the coop for easy access. Should I build a wooden chest or something like that? I need to keep the raccoons from getting into it.

I have a rubbermade container with a locking lid, and I bungie cord across the top. Been a couple months now, and no issues.

I use a shiny metal aluminum? feed can - some have locking lids. (last year's pic) Mine is on a houseplant dolly to roll it aside if needed.
