Rain soak egg safe to eat?

Hi. So one of my hens lays everywhere but the henbox. This afternoon while we were out ahe laid in the run. It poured while we were gone so by the time we gor home the egg was soaked. Is there anyway to safely eat thia egg? Could I wash it crack it and then eat it in the morning or does it jist need to be tossed? Thanks!

Probably ok if you eat it immediately, but if you're iffy, safer to toss.

If it wasn't laying in a puddle I'd be willing to eat it promptly, but well-cooked -- not soft-boiled or over-easy.

You could cook it and feed it back to the chickens if you don't trust eating it yourself. Or toss it if you are uncomfortable with it.
