I've only ever built raised coops. 1) Colder climates it keep the coop floor off the actual ground, 2) Vermin can't access it easier, at least 2' up. 3) Mr. Weazel' can jump 2'..enough said. 3) Sooo much easier on your back when cleaning out. 4) More run space underneath. 5) Cooler ground in summer.
