Happy New Year, from a couple of other old folks! Love this picture!
So got some exciting Kendra news to share. Jenny STILL hasn't gotten around to getting the prescription information to Jeremy for braces. I thought she had, until she mentioned this weekend that she really needs to get that done. So for now Kendra doesn't even have the AFOs - Jen left them with Jeremy so he could get the twister cables put on them in anticipation of the script coming in. Grrrrr She's such a procrastinator and she just can't be that way with Kendra. (Jeremy is our orthotics/prostheic provider)
Anyway, Miss Pam (her aide) and our beloved Cindi started this thing with Kendra at school where Kendra gets to be out of her chair for the first half of the school day. She crawls around, stands at the white board when it's her turn, and they've arranged the tables in the classroom so she can cruise from one to the other. Pam brought in the "grabber" that her dad used to use...it's that reach thingy where you can reach cans in upper shelves, etc. So when Kendra would be standing and her feet would turn in, they'd gently reach out with the grabber, put it around the worst foot, and tell her "fix your feet" while they moved the foot. Her other foot would kinda straighten out along with the one they had in the grabber. Within just a few sessions they'd just touch her foot with the grabber and remind her to "fix your feet". Now a lot of times we just tell her and she fixes them on her own.
Yesterday she was standing at the front door playing with the doorknob. Her feet were twisted and she tried to take a step. She stopped, whispered "fix your feet" and did it herself! Yep, she did she did she did!
