Sorry, I got behind in a class I'm taking and it just felt wrong to post about Raising Chickens for Dummies when I had homework undone!
In Ch 6 I found that using cat boxes for poop catchers and those covered cat boxes as nesting boxes are some great ideas. I've made some adjustments to the roosting places of my chickens because of this chapter. I read or skimmed through the book, finding jems like the section in Ch 8 about homemade feed vs commercial made. The reasons we use commercial feeds are because of ease and nutritional value. Sure, we can throw some scraps to the chickens and feel better about not wasting them, but chickens, like all animals, need a balanced diet. I'll leave the chicken feed making to the experts at DuMor and Purina.
