Random Lavender Chick?

Does the chick have five toes? That would lend itself to a sultan parent.

She said she had a variety of layers, all mixed. That tells me all bets are off, pretty much. Agree it could be cochin based as that's the popular breed to frizzle.

You'll just have to keep us updated as it grows! It's adorable.

I'm pretty sure this one is going to turn out to be a cockerel. I'm betting he is going to be really pretty and I will be very sad when I can't keep him

Here is a quick photo update, although I'm not sure if anyone is following this anymore.
If anyone has any thoughts please send them my way.

Also, anyone have guess on pullet vs. cockerel?

Its a boy. I'm SO sorry. It always figures that the really interestingly colored ones turn out to be roos.

oh and edited to add, the color is definitely blue. I see some copper leakage in the breast feathers too. No idea what the parents could be, but he is a very attractive chick. If you cant keep him, it should at least be easy to find a home for him.

Thank you for your thoughts. I'm sad to say he can't stay here and once he crows he goes

....OR maybe I will win the lottery before that happens and can move out to some land where roosters can stay. I can dream I suppose.

I do agree that it will be much easier to find a home for him since he is quite a handsome bird. I was thinking someone might even give me a bit of money for him to offset the cost of feed to raise him, but that might be right up there with the lottery dream lol

If you have a chance to check out my other chicks and let me know what you think of them, that would be awesome. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/902427/pullet-vs-cockerel-x4#post_13730630
Thank you!

I also recently hatched a random lavender chick!! Or blue.. not sure.... It hatched from eggs from my hens only though so I am 100% sure what breeds I have. :) It's wing feathers seem to be quite a bit lighter than yours, but it is still very young so they may darken up. I believe mine is a roo as I could see a pretty large comb even while it was just hatching lol. Sooo.. my breeds are a Barred Rock roo or a Delaware roo. Hens: 17 White Plymouth rocks with very heavy white leghorn influence ( floppy combs on some, some even have a few black speckles, ordered from Ideal as purebreds though), 1 Black Australorp, 2 Barred Rock hens, 3 Red Broilers, 1 Delaware hen, 2 Gold Sex links. What cross could it be from? I will totally keep it as my flock roo and maybe get another similar colored chick at some point. I am so excited!

Hi there Mon27. I have to say I agree with RoosterCrow,HensDeliver in that my little lavender chick is actually blue and a roo! As you can see, mine started quite light and has really darkened over the past 5.5 weeks.
Do you have any pics of your chick?
I have to upload my latest pics and will post them soon.
I will admit that chicken genetics confuse me like woah, so I'm not much help in the breed guessing department. I think mine might be a blue easter egger?
