Random pics of our farm :) Very DUW!

Lovely place you have there. I wish we could have found more land but all we have is 1 acer and I will use it to the best of my ability, just as you have. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Not gerbers. I believe they are an African Daisy. My mum uses them when she plants for the local resteraunt. While I forget the name, definately not Gerbs. They come in (that I've seen) the yellow with purple center and a purple with a whiteish center. Very pretty, just make sure you snip the flowers when there done otherwise they won't produce many more for you. They'll fill out quite nicely.

Holliewould, I would love to see pics! How do you make a gazing ball? The gal who gave me the planter, actually gave me a stand for one, but the ball had gotten broken. I just haven't wanted to spend the money bad enough yet, to buy a new one, lol!

Thanks Elderoo

Rudy is actually a wonderful gentleman, he has yet to raise a leg/arm at anyone. Now the other Brahma roo that I had in the bunch, he took after the boys and my husband a couple of times (never me though...) needless to say, he found a new home. I am just thankful that I have been fortunate in my rooster ownership....after hearing lots of bad stories!

Southern, they are neat, aren't they!? I fell in love with them last year, after seeing them in a hanging basket with two other types/colors of flowers. It was a Beautiful basket, but I just couldn't spend $20+ for it. I was sad too, afterwards, when I couldn't find that type of flower again. This year, a little greenhouse set up in the parking lot of our local small town grocery store. I walk in, and immediately see them, in their own seperate little pots

Gerber sounds familiar...and I did end up looking the name up online, and found them on the Proven Winners website. The technical name is Osteospermum hybrid, and the yellow one is Lemon Symphony, and the orange was ....I think just orange symphony. The website showed a Vanilla, and a Melon Symphony too-very pretty!

Gimme a sec, I'll go out and take a pic of mine real quick. Then i'll post instructions with it. Hang on here for just a few minutes OK? Weeeee I'm excited to show off my first balls!

Thechickcrew, thank you

I definitely want to put our land to use. My FIL owns the 110 acres around us, planted in corn and beans. The acreage itself is just under 10 acres, not counting the little bit of alfalfa along the driveway. I figure since we are fortunate enough to live out here, we might as well make use of open areas. I have a nice garden going, and if I do okay this year, would like to expand it even more next year. I want to grow enough food to can/freeze, and eventually get some goats for milk, etc.

With the world the way it is today, it's really scary...I want to learn as much as I can, about making and growing our own foods, and supporting our family more sufficiently when times get tougher.

Sparklecoon, does it really help to snip the flowers? The back of the tag says deadheading is not necessary, but you never know whether to believe that or not.

Okay so you know them half marbles? I caulked(clear) them onto a glass ball. Alot of people use old bowling balls, glass light covers, etc. I found the stand in someones recycle bin then just spray painted.

Same concept with this mushroom. I caulked(clear) all kinds of half marbles onto a plastic bowl that I, again, found in a recycling bin. Then I put some food coloring into a jam jar, screwed the lid on it, then set my bowl on top.

All junk.

No garden is complete without a gazing ball though LOL. It keeps the witches away HAH!

And it sounds like something even I could do, lol! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the stuff needed to make it...think I even have some of the clear/pearly glass things leftover from the table centerpieces from my wedding

I use them marbles for everything. You can glue them around some of your planter boxes or pots. They are whimsical. Anyway, I'm done hijacking your thread

Lets see some more farms!
