I like the bumper stickers that say "stupid people should be sterilized" and I agree 100%!

I saw a t-shirt at a dog show once it read "Stupid People Shouldn't Breed" and while it was at a dog show, I think we all know the true meaning of the shirt!!!

More importantly, crazy people shouldn't breed.

If they are eating eggs then they are just vegetarians or closet carnivores and actually just posers.

I asked a good friend of mine who is a Vegan about eggs, he explained that he could not eat them because the animals were exploited, it had nothing to do with fertility or not, it was because they were kept captive for their eggs. There was more explanation than that, but I think that captures it in a nutshell rather well.

Right up there with the folks who think dogs and cats should be allowed to roam the streets rather than be pets. It's somehow better for them not to have good food, vet care, and some measure of population control.

I'm sure my hens would feel so much free-er if they didn't have food, water and treats provided in exchange for the eggs they leave behind.

You will get answers much faster if you make a separate thread for the question if you cannot find the answer with a search of the forum. Actually often off topic post's get no response at all.

Medicated crumbles are for chicks, the medication is a vaccine combo. I doubt you are doing them any/much good if they are more then 18 weeks old as you are just constantly exposing them to weakened virus's. Your probably better off giving them some variety like tossing in a lettuce head or some broccoli during the winter so they can have some greens and mix in some sunflower seeds and maybe some bird seed or scratch feed in with the corn. I don't know if you can eat the eggs or not. Many people never feed their chickens the medicated feed ever because they don't want it passed on to them, but I think that's more of an organic train of thought. Ok, I'm stopping now cuz this is off topic.

Yea, he is my friend, but we don't agree on the subject.

(I guess that's obvious... but just to be clear.)

He is oversea's so the conversation was all through e-mail. Otherwise I would have asked him if he preferred I let them loose to feed the hawks, coons, coyotes... etc and broke into that discussion, then I would have moved on to the discussion on how free ranging chickens all go back to the coop as well...etc.

If he ever visits(we were roommates in the service, prior to me having my own land and animals.) I'm sure there will be a very long discussion between us...

In the last few years, I've come to the conclusion that the more "urban" we get, the more removed from reality we get, and the more ignorant our American society at large gets.

What's really odd about this situation is the fact that folks who live purely urban lifestyles tend to believe they are at the pinnacle of intellect in the human race...I guess ignorance really is bliss.

I have three business degrees and have many “educated” friends, but I've always found that the best, smartest, and most enlightened folks often live in rural areas.

I'm the father of three young sons, and I'M SO GLAD that my wife and I decided to buy land in a rural area and raise them on a farm.

I'd lose my mind if I had to watch my boys grow up clueless and arrogant.

No eggs are vegetables, so they wouldn't be a vegetarian if they ate any eggs, now would they?!!
