Pretty Frog, Right On! I also believe in gun control and gun ownership. Hard to reconcile? No, I also believe in common sense. Some pro gun laws defy common sense and i'm aginst them, some anti gun laws defy common sense and i'm against this too. I actually like the pro and anti gun controversy, because for the most part it keeps things in balance.

I feel the same way about the 'guns = evil' bumper stickers as I do about the 'I've got my liberal hunting license' bumper stickers. I think the owners of both are morons that make their own causes look bad, and it is my hope that when the polls are open the owners of both bumper stickers all have flat tires and can't make it in to vote.

Both extremes are just deluding themselves.

I swear, one side thinks that guns load themselves, force themselves into the hands of innocent people, and drag said innocent people towards other innocent people before firing themselves with unerring accuracy, and the other side thinks there is some vast government agency dedicated to no purpose other than coming to get them.

I still feel like so many folks find some need to let the world know that they are armed and can by God take ya down if they need to. Dont get it, seriously don't get it.

Why does ANYONE other then a police officer (and even thiers are not concealed, they are plain on their hip) need to carry a concealed weapon? that I have a problem with..... I am not saying that your DD will act inappropriate with her weapon BUT how many idiots are there out there who are not right in the head or are the leaders of the "hey stupid" club... how many of these people are permitted to carry a concealed weapon and because their beer was sold out at the store and now they have to drive all the way across the street.. and look out dont get in their way.. or else yr gonna get a cap busted in yr (insert 3 letter word here)

for the record.... I grew up with guns, my parents were sport shooters for many years, my mom out shoots my dad! I have been handling guns since i was about 6 yrs old... however I will never allow a gun in my home. PERIOD... DH wanted a rifle because we are in the sticks.... I told him he can live in the coop. (however i do have a mentally unstable teen, who no longer lives at home but still NO gun!)

LOL I had a neighbor once that shot skeet competitively on a local level. I borrowed his second gun and we went to the range. I hit 23 of 25 three times in a row. He never asked me to go again.. Very lucky and I think I have a second nature for it. I very much enjoy skeet shooting just dont have the time for one more hobby

but unless you are A) hunting or B) on the way to the range for practice (in this case it should be locked in a secure carry case)... why do you need to carry a gun? is your supermarket that dangerous?

I have some relatives that, had the authorities asked me I would have told them that they shouldn't be allowed near pointy objects let alone near things that shoot projectiles at incredible speeds. Always bragging about how "ready they were" for that imaginary assailent. After a while I began to feel that they were very fearful people who also wanted an excuse to kill someone so they could then brag about how dangerous they were and continue with the bravado that they used to cover up thier own fear & inadequacy. Sad, really.

I think the reasoning is that they feel that by at least having the permit makes them the LAW ABIDEING one when some Yahoo pulls out his piece, and starts pointing it at people. Either that or they feel that the police can not protect them quick enough(which is usually the case) or that they are a member of the Rich and/or Famous that needs extra protection.
