but where are the FACTS, not just this group saying it will or that group saying it wont show that by allowing guns on campus does the crime rate decrease?

If you click that link there is a tab about crime on campus and it doesn't contain statistics. I'm still looking, if there are any stats I will find them!! Be patient

Because when I open carry, people see it either as a challenge (betcha I could take that gun away from ya before ya could aim it, here, lemme show you) or as a threat (omg that person has a gun, quick, hide the women and children!).

But by having the gun inside my coat, I don't have to deal with people whose fragile minds just can't handle the presence of a gun without going all stupid.

but unless you are A) hunting or B) on the way to the range for practice (in this case it should be locked in a secure carry case)... why do you need to carry a gun? is your supermarket that dangerous?

Here's an example. I was an independent contractor working for DHL. In order for me to have a loaded gun in a moving vehicle you need a CCW.. I generally had mine because I've been attacked by many a large dog on rural routes and after going through the rabies shots, I don't want a repeat. Those dogs see a yellow van and go crazy............

Here's something else that many folks don't know and hopefully I don't get in trouble for disclosing this, but the US postal service gets their narcotic based prescription drugs via DHL. It comes in on our planes, they come in very visible blue bags and are sorted by the post office they need to go to for final delivery. It's because of my security clearance and background that I was able to do a lot of that stuff as well as having all access to airport facilities as well as Army and Air force bases that I delivered to.

I've had somebody try to car jack me to steal close to 100,000 worth of prescription drugs that I had in my delivery vehicle. I've had somebody try to pull me out of a smaller delivery van in the hood while trying to deliver a replacement cell phone... I've had to shoot an attacking dog.... 3 separate incidents with one job alone. Glad I gout out of that before DHL went belly up or I would have lost my booty... but having a .38 probably saved my life 2 out of those 3 times I needed it.

Now I'll cover the colleges .... Carrying is a big NO NO with the colleges and law enforcement. A few of us guys did anyways... And we escorted close to twenty to twenty five girls to their cars every night during night courses. They had a set of parking ramps they designated for guys only. Not because they were gender biased.. because they were poorly lit, they were far away from armed security and after 9 rapes in 1 year it became known as the "rape" ramp. My girlfriend I met in classes, as well as my entire Anatomy and Physiology class found out that I was providing late nite walks to each's car. I broke the rules, but many many gals felt safe enough to take night classes, and I felt good as a man and as a human being knowing that if needed I could protect them with my fists or more if needed.

WOW where the heck did that come from?...

I surely hope this was not directed at me because I do seem to be the only Canadian having something to say about this topic (i could be wrong just a quick observation) However weather you or your neighbor decide to carry a gun ... I will say one things for sure... you do not risk anything to protect me or any other Canadian, by "you" (or in this cases the person who decides to carry a gun) a private citizen deciding to carry a gun... this is not a topic about our armed forces, (ie. all branches of the military) OUR armed forces.. USA and Canada I am sure "help" each other out as in team work...

I have found NO STATISTICS about crime rate decline on campus due to CC. HOWEVER, it has only been allowed according to what I have read since 1995. Statisticians take their sweet time

I would bet there is an ongoing study, but due to the short time frame results are still not out yet.

In those cases you were on the job... if your job requires you to carry... then you carry... its like the armed security guards for transporting money.... there is no cut and dry answer... but when you go to the Safeway and you are carrying a gun in case the boogie man jumps out of a dark alley.. thats a little much

there is always going to be an exception to every rule... but why does the head of the PTA meeting need to carry a 9mil in case?....
