It would be interesting to see how some who are so far removed from the natural world would survive if there were no grocery stores.

I suspect that the "scene" would be MUCH LIKE my Father's experiences after the Fall of Bataan ( Bataan Death March ).....with FEWER "atrocities" !

Some would grow "veggies"...and perhaps raise Chickens or Hogs......which would be STOLEN by others...( as the Japanese Soldiers/Guards did ).

The REAL DIFFICULTY ...today....would be .....going WITHOUT ELECTRICITY......(which was a RARE THING in rural areas throughout the World in 1940).

TODAY....the WHOLE WORLD (sans some "Battle-Zones") survives on ELECTRICITY .......( NOT "Safeway" ).

I agree. My vegan cousin, while she was still talking to me, had the same holier than thou attitude. She was young though, probably Catherine's age. I keep hoping she will grow out of it.

It would be dangerous to end domestication completely. I know they can't see it but should disaster strike and they lose their iPads, Priuses and ability to ship Quinoa from Peru, they'll understand and then perish

But I have a question. There is not a lot of information out there on Animal Sanctuary and I remember someone saying that their first rule was not to talk about it. It seems to be true, except for loose-lipped wannabe members like Catherine. The American version has a website though: http://www.asaanimalsanctuaries.org/index.htm The criteria for becoming an accredited Animal Sanctuary requires you follow a set of rules which they post on this page: http://www.asaanimalsanctuaries.org/sanctuary_criteria.htm Most of the rules fall in line with what we're hearing from that blog (including a rule about not spreading rumors that would harm the association - too late!) but there's no mention of veganism specifically on the website. So my question is, was Animal Sanctuary founded by these "abolitionists" or have they started using Animal Sanctuary to help their cause? Does anyone know? Just curious.

Don't worry. The philosophy won't dominate the world until its population is reduced to a fraction of what it is today. Before then we shall all be subject to Sharia law. Well, not me. I shall be long gone.

Where did the not talk about rule come from ? A friend of mine runs a horse sanctuary and they need to publicize for money to run it.

Extreme animal rights organizations get money because they show people horrible pictures of suffering animals. They do not get large amounts of money because people agree with their goals. I know lots of vegetarians. Most of them do not think that any use of animals is exploitive and evil in and of itself. Most don't think pets should be eliminated or that use of bees, etc should not happen.

Rational people know that most of our fruits are bee pollinated. There are not enough wild bees in the world to provide food for everyone. Rational people know that only the affluent can be so picky as not to touch products made from animals. Rational people know that the world will not embrace a vegan lifestyle. Anyone who says that being vegan isn't a choice isn't being honest with themselves.

This sort of extreme animal rights is virtually a religion. It's believers do not need facts, they only need belief. And like other religions, you can't argue with true believers.

Seriously true !
I wish ALL human being HAD to grow their own, and have absolute hands on in the growing, processing and butchering & preparation/storage of, ALL their food.
Instead of just breeding & consuming with no knowledge of where their food came from.
maybe need to teach this in our schools.
