thanks , yes alot of feathers .......those were 2 day old when the pics were taken........

Cool, i have never been owned by peacocks , not sure i should have them as i free range over 300 chickens, geese ,ducks and tons of guineas(lost count this season).

I have the land but read that pecocks can get things from chickens and here everyone comes to a common roost area ,

Also i want them to be free here like evrything else but not sure if 100 acres is enough to keep them home, nothing else here goes off our land.

Go for it, just don't pen them with chickens as peachicks...free range will reduce odds of them getting something from the chicken. Depends on your area , blackhead is not everywhere

I live in southeast texas, never herd of blackhead but i don't get away from here very often.

I think i am going to get hatchery birds next spring, i know i have had good luck them in the way of other foul and i can have them vaccinated for whatever they need before they get here.

Do you know which are the gentlest/ friendliest?

Any of the india blues no matter the colors, two great peafowl breeders in your state. you will find most hatchery get their peachicks from breeders, know alot that sell lots of peachicks to them..then they mark the price up.

plus if they ship day olds, peachicks like more heat and are more fragile than chickens or anything else. Personally I would never consider shipping day olds.. only chicks 2-3 months old or older. Definitely best to get chicks or birds in person if possible.

Ill second that when i was getting started in peafowl I tried ordering eight chicks from a reputable breeder who i know well and has very good stock, but because of all the shipping and trouma all arrived alive but only 2 made it through the week.

If you want chicks try hatching them from eggs, or buying them from someone close
