Rare South American Breeds including the Colloncas

Yashar, of 19 eggs that made it to lockdown, 12 hatched and are very healthy! I had been warned that BQO were very difficult to hatch in an incubator (versus under a broody), so I am thoroughly impressed! There are about 3 partridge variety mixed in. I am VERY VERY happy! :)

Good luck I hope you get a good hatch. I am going to try some more, 19 out of 26 sounds like a great rate. Do you have any advice on getting that good of eggs going into lockdown temps or humidity and kind of incubator . I would love some advice I am going to keep trying with these breeds until I get enough to hatch my own. Have a great day and good luck
I don't turn shipped eggs for the first week of incubation, and even though these weren't shipped, they did have a long drive so I didn't turn them. I also do MUCH lower humidity than most people recommend - like 25% or UNDER at all times, until lockdown, when I add water and let it be about 50-60%. I just used a regular Hova Bator with a fan and a turner.

Congratulations on a great hatch, I am on Yashirs waiting list to get more I can not wait I am not sure what is so fascinating about these breeds but I am hooked So glad yours turned out so well. Will be trying to duplicate your conditions I will be using incubator also. After seeing the video of how packages are sent through the PO I can see why shipped eggs are so hard to get to hatch, Will keep on trying until I get enough. Have a great day and if you get some time can you post Pics I would love to see some babies

Sometimes, when asked what qualities I breed for, I answer, "chicks that can hatch no mater what I do to them...

Good afternoon how are your babies doing? I hatched 2 out of the eggs I had before not because of the eggs they were packed great great air cells I had them under a broody and the temps got way above 100 for almost 2 weeks .They were doing fine until that so it is my fault I was in the hospital . The 2 that made it I took out from under the broody and put in incubator, so now I am not sure what I have I know 2 hatched the shells were there I also had other eggs in there taken from broodies to try and save I have 1 totally black it is bigger and I do not know which one the other is there were black Ameracaunas also. Could you give some advice on finding the BQO ther are 3 but they have white on them they are stll young like 3 weeks. Congragalations on your chicks. If I cannot find any before yours starte laying would you consider selling me some. I found some on ebay they were alot higher but I just did not really trust them I would have paid the higher price but no pics or anything. Once again Wonderful hatch.
