Oh what beautiful, stunning, Black-Breasted Reds and their Salmon ladies. Oh My. I am struggling to put togehter a flock of this color pallette in Marans. Extremely difficult, the color is very corrupted here in the US. But these Kraienköppe ! Wow! Everything I would love to have in my Marans already perfected. Oh My, I swoon. Just a treat to behold them. A joy to the eye.
Wow,
Sigh,

Speaking of rare poultry. I am seeking a e+e+ s+s+ Golden Salmon male of any age. He must have white shanks/feet & proper coloring. No blue gene, not split to silver. Not out of, or descended from, Black Copper Marans. Hatched from Golden Salmon parents. I can work with a lot of iffy traits as long as the male has the traits outlined above. No melanizers or Db gene. Even if you don't have such a bird but know of someone who might, please let me know. I have 4 pullets but no male. Both a lovely coop/yard and a sturdy breeding pen are waiting for him. Thanks so much. Please feel free to pass this inquiry along to other lists and folk.
Best Regards,

What about a Brabanter? How rare do you think they are? I have a cream one that I got from someone just because my wife wanted a Barred Rock and this was the only black and white they had.

I have a 6 month old Sultan cockrel and he doesn't seem to be any more ditzy than my other roosters. That being said, I have read that crested breeds can be somewhat flighty. I think it's because the feathers on their head make it hard for them to see and they get startled. He seems pretty hearty, too. I've had a lot of disease problems this year and he has remained healthy. My only complaint is that he was supposed to be a she. The hens lay a medium sized white egg.

From good stock (non-hatchery) you'd have to seek them out specifically and know how to weed out the hatchery birds. So, they're pretty rare, but I have seen a couple breeders here on BYC.
