Rat Wont Die!!!!!!!

Sounds like if this rat won't die any time soon you might resort to nuclear weaponry. LOL, just kidding. Really the only thing I can suggest is going the old fashion way - a snap trap. Or else a larger one which can catch the little bugger. Poisoning would work but I would hate to smell something decomposing days later and struggling to find it. That happened when my closet started to smell and months later dad checked the cubby area in our attic to find a dead squirrel that smelled awful.

All these posts make me thankful for my (little) mice. Ever since we moved in here 4 yrs. ago it's been a battle between me and the mice. I keep the poison well supplied at all times in the crawlspace and in the furnace door. I don't care if I get an odor in the spring, I'm not dealing with dead bodies in traps. Anyway, they seem to eat and then go outside because I don't get odors very often.

When we had our kitchen cabinets taken out, under the cabinets was a nice sized pile of dog food. They'd steal it out of the dog's bowl at night and carry it off under the cabinets.

My husband calls mice nature's Cheerios. Everything eats them.

I like the victor snap traps, but getting a rodent off them IS gross. The T-rex types are better for body removal. I had decomp smell in ds's room, and hunted for weeks for the mouse in the attic/crawl. Never found it.The smell was horrid-absolutely horrid.

Dang Rebel, your always coming up with something intresting.

but just a question....isn't the razor blade going the wrong way?? in your pic the trap is sprung, not set, and it looks like the edge is up?? I may just be looking at it wrong though....

On a differnt note, THANK YOU for the research and development (LOL) on how to set the water heater thermostat. I finally got my homemade bator within a degree with your knowledge, you saved me alot of trial and error. THANKS AGAIN.

Good luck with the demon rat!!!

they DO make wonderful pets! They are clean and intelligent and affectionate.
even wild ones do though i wouldn't encourage that !
years ago a neighbor of ours told us that when she and her kids lived in an old apartment house in a big city. Her then 4 y/o daughter kept talking about her"kittens"that she fed and played with. Jeanie said she just figured that the child had imaginary kittens ....
One night Jeanie got up for some reason and heard Denise in her room bopping around and went in to check on her. She was pushing her baby doll carriage around and said to her mom" see my pretty kitties"? Jeanie looked into the carriage prepared to see NOTHING and saw 3 BIG old city rats ,DRESSED in DOLL CLOTHES sitting in the carriage!! Apparently Denise had been feeding and playing with them for MONTHS! they were so TAME and would let Denise do ANYTHING to /with them ...the next day the exterminator was called....they ended up taking out 3 pick up tuck loads of rats that lived in that tenament building.
