rats?

I have had sevral chickens die. I lost chicks a few weeks ago obviously to rats. We baited and set traps but we have caught nothing. Anyways could rat bites cause death?

I'm sure it's possible? How old are your chickens that have died recently? Other than deceased, what are the conditions of the dead chickens when you find them? Wounds? Are several dead at once? I am wondering about a weasel??
