Rattler!! New pics, nother snake pg 3

They don't coil to strike. They pull back their head and body into more or less an S shape.

Seven different kinds of rattlesnake plus coral snake in New Mexico.

Yep, we have: Rock, Western Diamondback, Western Prairie, Mojave, Black tailed, Massasauga, Ridgenose, Sidewinder, and Western coral snake. Not to mention several other kinds of non-venomous snakes.

OMG......that has to be one of the most beautiful snakes I have seen in a long time. I would give my right arm to get the chance to photograph that beauty!!!

I'm sure you could somehow do it Rob.

I would say the second one is a mutation color. Probably worth tons of money to the right collector.

Glad I don't have to deal with that. I will like to remind everyone that even if they are dead if you touch the fangs you can still get poisoned if you get scratched. I am not sure how long after their dead that they are still poisonous but seen that on venom ER and was very surprised by it. Nice pics but wouldn't find me there

I know nothing about snakes, and didn't even know that we have poisonous ones here in Michigan. But, those two snakes were very beautiful! I'm glad you didn't kill them, but sheesh - looks like you had to get mighty close or have a really good zoom on your camera!

Yes that's a good point. Whenever we kill one we cut the head off and bury it so that nothing can step on it and get hurt. It helps not to freak people out too if it's obviously dead and left belly up!

Impressive snake but I'm glad he wasn't in my coup. Probably would put him out of his misery otherwise I'd be a little jumpy every time I'd be working outside.
