A raw food diet is a hot topic trending online for both cats and dogs. Last Monday, I made a partially raw chicken recipe for my three-month old kittens and they contracted coccidiosis within two days. Unfortunately last Friday I surrendered them up for adoption as I couldn't afford their medication and was devastated. Nowhere have I read in any recipe the risk of coccidiosis in cat raw food preparation. I'm looking for help and expertise.

Welcome To BYC

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, it must be heartbreaking:hugs

We are not vets here on BYC and may not be able to answer your questions.
I can offer you some links to Coccidiosis in both poultry and in cats/dogs.

Coccidiosis is caused protozoa (Coccidia) which are generally species specific.

In poultry Coccidiosis is usually caused by the genus Eimeria.

Cats (and Dogs) are usually affected by a different genus.
