Hi all,
I would like to get into incubation and hatching of my own backyard flock’s eggs as well some more expensive shipped eggs eventually. I’ve been reading reviews and product descriptions trying to do my due diligence before purchasing. I think I’ve narrowed my choices to the Rcom MX20 or the Incuview with the automated humidikit. The price point for both are about the same once you add the humidikit. I was hoping to get some input from users here who have these incubators.
  • The Pros and Cons of each
  • Humidity control on Rcom
  • Likes/Dislikes of each, etc.
  • Any additional equipment needed to hatch? Can I hatch directly in both
I work from home 80% of the time so I will be available to monitor and adjust as needed but looking for an incubator that is mostly set it and forget it. I currently have 12 pullets and 2 cockerels, a 10x16 Woods Coop, and a fenced 40x48 run. I am adding a second coop/run (6x10 Woods and 16x48 run) so space and extra boys shouldn’t be an issue.

Any input would be appreciated as I don’t want to purchase multiple incubators.

Thanks! Medda

Well the Rcom on Amazon runs between $360.00 and $420.00. The Incuview with the humidikit added is $325.00 to $350.00 with the extra humidity and temp gauges from IncubatorWarehouse.

Just get a Chinese incubator, dude or dudette! You can then feed a village with the money that you've saved. They aren't as bad as people make them out to be, they just come at the factory with the wrong temp reading, but once you buy a separate thermometer/hygrometer and calibrate it accordingly, IT WORKS! Since you're gonna be home 80% of the time anyway, you can keep an eye on it just in case of temperature drop/spike. Depends on which one you get, but there are a few in the $50 range that has been getting good reviews. You can find them cheaper on Ebay! :)

@Medda HI there! I have the incuview with thet humidikit :) Love it. I did have a couple of problems with the humidikit to start but the customer service at incubator warehouse is awesome and was able to fix me up right away. I'm on my 6th hatch currently and have had 75% hatch rates on eggs that were fertile (guineas and peafowl mostly shipped eggs)

Pros:
-love that clear lid
-it is for the most part set it & forget. I do check my humidikit water a few times daily (my house is dry)
-very easy to clean
-it holds it temp steady
-turns them up to 8x daily
-fits just about any egg in the turner. (I've had silkie eggs, guinea eggs, reg chicken eggs, peafowl eggs and turkey eggs) guessing emu & ostrich would be out though :gig
-excellent customer service
-1 year warranty

Cons:
-not as many eggs as say the hovabator 1588 (only 27 reg/ 17 pea eggs) I'm not sure how many the RCOM holds?
-some say shipped eggs hatch better up & down not on their sides. (I'm not sure if it makes a difference) but the other turner isn't an option for this one.

Any questions just ask :)

There is a reason they are cheap. You get what you pay for.
This is not good advice.

Tbh, quite a few of your recent posts have not been very helpful :hmm

Actually, you don’t always get what you pay for... I hated my $200 incubator but LOVED my $40 incubator. But I do agree you usually do actually get what you pay for, very often too! All in all, I like this post! Thanks Cyprus!! :celebrate

Chinese incubator? Huh? I wouldn’t recommend that.... @Medda there are so many choices! There’s good and bad ones. I love how you’re so prepared! Good luck on your hatching journey!! :fl
