READ ASAP! Chicken overheated!

Sounds like your Australorp may have suffered from Heat Stroke or Heat Exhaustion possibly? I suppose you could treat for that and shock like a human. Give fluids, electrolytes as mentioned previously. Maintain adequate body temperature (they may not be able to regulate their own at this point). I think antibiotics are, typically, administered also (but, I'm not really sure, so you should check that out). All that being said, certainly keeping her quiet and resting is a good thing. I hope she pulls through. Keep us updated, please.

Alright. It's about 63 degrees out, so she's in the garage (again. They were in the greenhouse to get them out of the garage, but oh well). She seems to be doing better. She's laying normally instead of on her side, and is holding her own head up for minutes on end. She still seems very sleepy (It IS dark out, so could really be sleeping).

The directions didn't specify a difference between chicks and adults, but it said it's good for both. I put some in a syringe and also the cap of a milk jug. I would stick the tip of her beak in it, and every 15 seconds or so, she'd realize it and start drinking a couple drops. After a few minutes of that, I filled a 1 cup measuring cup with the mixture and let her sleep.

Hopefully she will be better by morning! I know lots of sleep does me good, too!

Here are some awful quality photos. She had her eyes closed at the moment.

Yes I would definetly give her electrolytes and probiotic that is in the sav a chick brand u can put both of them together. Does she seem to still eat?

I haven't tried giving her much more than grass. She hardly knows where she's at or what water is or even how to drink it. She wouldn't even know what food was. I plan on making her some scrambled eggs first thing tomorrow.

Thanks for keeping us updated. She looks better than she did. There is hope and am still praying!
Thank you! Thank you! She needs it! I would LOVE for her to pull through, and that will make me feel much better about the situation I put her in, and also that I can save a chicken that was only minutes from death.

I hope tonight does good things for her!

That's a good idea. Keep us posted on how she it's doing. And I would defintly try and give her the electrolytes she may be really dehydrated. Good luck.

I gave her as much as she would drink in about 5 minutes. I made a gallon jug so I will definitely give her as much as she will drink tomorrow. Praying to have good news by tomorrow!
