Do you happen to have any video's or photo's of what the blood ring looks like when candling? I have only seen some pics after the eggs has been opened up.
I always put them back until the following candle. I am sometimes not certain and don't want to loose a contender by accident. Maybe with more practice I won't need to. In the mean time they are either heat sinks or viable. At the next candle, if it looks the same as last time it comes out.
Cheers for sharing the picture, I know what to look for now.
Thanks for sharing that! I've only seen one blood ring and it was more of a 1" section of a dark red line against the shell. I knew that wasn't the usual but had never seen one to compare. Couldn't see video 2 but 1 & 3 are super clear. Hokankai what phone do you use? Just curious, I work for a cell phone store
hi everybody i set eggs 3/14 22 welsummers and 14 marans all the welsummers are shipped and the marans were picked up locally. i candled at day 7 and pulled 6 and day 14 is tomorrow!
Day ten! Just candled. Of the original 25 I'm confident that 3 silkies and 1 marans never started to develop, and are in there just as heat sinks. So of the 21 remaining... 20 we saw very active movement and 1 that is still too dark to be sure (I think the black-tailed buff marans egg has lead in it - completely impenetrable by light except the air cell) but I THINK I saw a blacker area against the air cell. I can't be sure. Extremely happy about seeing them all moving around
