These chicks are 5 weeks old, and currently in my garage with a heat lamp on them. Sometimes they are next to the light, sometimes they are not. The temps are going to be in the low 50s at night, and up in the 60s and 70s during the day. They will still be in this large cage, but inside the chicken coop where the other hens can see them. I have no electricity in the coop, so I cannot keep a light on them. Thoughts?

I put mine out at 2.5 weeks but their coop area is enclosed to hold the heat in so it stays around 55 degrees even when it's 26 outside. I'd just make sure to give them a thick layer of bedding and maybe throw a towel over the cage to break the draft. They should be fine at this point

I'm sure someone else with more experience will come along and comment, but they look sufficiently feathered in to me for the temps you mentioned. The only thing I would recommend is maybe removing/weaning them off the heat lamp in the garage for a day or two so it's not such an abrupt difference. Based on their age, they really shouldn't need much, if any supplemental heat inside the garage even if you don't decide to move them out to the coop. 😁
