Real Ameraucana causing confusion

I wonder if you'd get a color like that from intensive splash breeding?

That's what I was wondering. The bird looks like a Splash with no black leakage.

The feathers just don't look quite right for a white Ameraucana.

Great minds

I don't know much about most of the Ameraucana colors, so I don't know the splash/blue/black or white specs. This guy seems albino to me, though, with those pinkish eye sockets and pasty beak and comb.

I'm not sure if chickens come in albino? But he does look to have dark legs.

A true albino would have a complete lack of pigmentation so they would be solid white, including beak, skin, shanks, plus no pigement in the eyes which is what makes them appear red.

A leucistic animal has a very small amount of pigment and is not an albino. Usually the animal would be mostly white with blue/light colored eyes and points/paint markings of darker colored skin.

I do not think there are any reported cases of albino or leucistic chickens though.

Great info. Thanks!
