Really Nasty Poo**WARNING!! GRAPHIC, DISGUSTING & PIC HEAVY**

The last time I wormed them was about 2 mo. ago. I wormed them for 1 wk. stopped a wk. then wormed again. That was the advice of my vet. I've been using the brand of food sold at TRS. What brand do you use? What can I use for dehydration?

Following the vets advice on worming is a good thing but I do know that over medicating and giving worm medicine if it's not needed can be dangerous. If the fecal says "no parasites" then no need to treat for same.

As far as feed, I don't think I've ever bought the same brand twice. It seems like every feed store sells something different. But I would be suspicious of the feed if you have been feeding same brand all along and they have had this problem all along - my suggestion would be to try any brand as long as it's something different.

For dehydration - make sure they are drinking plenty of water and feed them watermellon and fresh veggies - they'll absorb water from them.

Dont worm them again..Thats part if not all of your problem..1 week of giving piperzine is harmful to chickens. piperzine is a 1 day wormer..Its a wonder their not pooping blood

If no parasites were found in the fecal it is something else. I sure hope that two weeks of wormer didn't damage their internals.... we all need some bacterial flora in our guts to be able to digest food. If it wasn't for E. coli in our guts, we'd eat a whole lot more food, and cows without bacteria wouldn't be able to eat grass.

what have you been feeding them?
It might be a combination of things and in this situation regardless of what the initial problem was/is and any other secondary complications, I would give them a good general supplement like AviaCharge 2000 (you can give in their feed>mix with cooked in water oatmeal >just enough to make thier feed clump together (do not overdo the oatmeal) and offer free choice live culture yogurt.
There are enteral problems here and this is going to cause malabsorption issues and that in turn will cuase severe deficiencies complicating their problem even more. Give them a couple weeks supplementation and see how things go and monitor for further symptoms...
Faecal exams can sometimes produce a false negative... if you still feel this might be something that needs addressing then you can give a broad spectrum wormer such as ivomec Eprinex (the spot-on method)

I just got back from letting my girls out of the coop. They all seem okay. I gave them cooked rice and organic plain yogurt yesterday and their poo this morning seems better than yesterday. I gave them the rice mixture again this morning. I also cleaned their waterer and gave them filtered water instead of straight from the tap. I have Avia Charge and have put that in their water before. How often should I use such a product?
DLH -- where do you reccomend I purchase the Eprinex from and what is the dosage for 3 adult chickens?
